Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey that was emailed to you. If you haven’t filled it out yet please do so. If you can’t find it in your email, please check our Facebook page. This helps us understand what our members would like to do in future clinics and activities.
Tack Swap date is September 12, 2021 from 10am-3pm at the same location as our previous swap. Ark Design Construction. 9470 Deschutes Road in Palo Cedro (Next to Dollar General). Thank you Joe and Melinda! To rent a space, non-members are charged $10, members are free. All disciplines are welcome to sell at the Tack Swap. Also, if you have items you want to donate to the club to sell, please let a board member know so we can collect the items from you.
October 16-17 Sandy Savage Clinic, located at Melinda VanSweden’s. There are still open ride spots so contact Nina if you want to ride. If you can’t ride, please come and audit!!
Andre Ganc Clinic located at Kim Johan-Nass facility is coming to the North State every 6 weeks. His clinics will be for 2 days at a cost of $150 per ride. Kim will pay $50 for each rider on their 1st clinic so they can experience this very popular and sought-after clinician.
Please contact Kim if interested in riding, auditing is free.
It was decided to wait until spring of 2022 for our “Ride on a Beach” trip.
If there are clinicians you would like to ride with and events you would like to see happen please contact Nina or join us with input at our next meeting!
Lauren will continue to search for a facility to host a fundraising event on horseback!
Will order microphones for the new sound system since our old headset is obsolete.

Cindy was out of town but the following was reported to the president.
Our debit card and online banking with Mechanics Bank is now up and running.
Tentative Date of August 3-4 Randy Brooks Clinic depending on interest from the club.
$150 per rider per day
This clinic will be group lessons of 4-5 riders; groups will be focusing on any specific issues they might have on horseback as well as trailering, tying, etc. This clinic is tailored to the rider and horse's needs. If you are interested in this clinic please contact Nina Felsenthal at 530-515-8986.
Amber will also contact Randy to inquire about weekend dates for a clinic as well.
September - We are waiting to hear back from Silke Rembacz to confirm the dates for the clinic. An update will be announced.
October 16-17 Sandy Savage Clinic, this clinic will be held at Melinda Van Sweden's facility. Please contact Nina if you are interested in riding in the clinic.

Lauren purchased the new sound system from Costco. This total cost was $150.14, after Kim Johan-Nass’s donation the cost to the club was .14 cents. Thank you Kim for the generous donation!
“Ride on the Beach” Lauren has been researching possible facilities for equine rentals or boarding our horses, as well as places to stay. This sounds like a fun event, please read the informational attachments and give us your feedback. The following businesses seem like great options.
Option #1: Horseback Trail Rides in Bodega Bay
There was a lot of discussion and ideas around the room regarding fun, fundraising events. Our last swap meet was such a success, it was decided to hold another one in September. Date and location to be announced.
Some other fun, fundraising ideas were a Wine/small plate night with raffle baskets and silent auction.
Progressive Bunco/Game night
Poker ride. Lauren will contact Corkey Harmon to see if his facility is available for this event.

Kathy Pavlich's ride-a-test clinic was a huge success!! We had 8 riders, half took lessons, half did both a test and a lesson. The event was held at the Amber S Dressage facility. Alex had video/photography sign-ups available. Riders received a swag bag geared towards showing; it contained washcloth, hair ties, detangler mane/tail scissors, CDS water bottle, and peppermints for the horses.
Kathy stayed at a beautiful Airbnb in Gold Hills that is owned by Nina’s mother. Thank you, Nina! A gift basket was provided to the clinician by the Chapter Board.
Pictures will be coming soon from this clinic, there were over 8000 pictures taken, so please be patient.
We will be having another clinic with Kathy Pavlich in the future.

“Going to the Beach” was discussed to possibly do a “beach ride” either with our horses or renting horses, locations, and details were discussed, everyone was interested in perusing this.
Discussed purchasing a speaker for clinics and auditors. Kim Johan-Nass donated her $150 reimbursement for stabling back to the club to help cover the cost and Kathy Praegitzer will cover the balance. We will buy a sound system from Costco, if it doesn’t work as advertised will return and find something else. Also, will purchase hand sanitizer at Costco for the next event.

Area Chair Report:
Cavaletti Clinic –The clinic was a big success! For future events, we will organize ride times that spread the board members/volunteers out so efforts can be distributed throughout the day. Participants were all given fun swag bags when signing in. We will also reinstate required volunteer hours to participate in the future Amateur Clinics.
Alex took many photos during the clinic. Riders can purchase all photos taken for a flat fee of $25. You will receive about 300-500 photos. Alex will upload the photos on Shutterfly, and with payment to her, you’ll be sent a link to the photos. Alex can photo shop pictures for an extra fee. You can pay via cash, check or Venmo.
Nina will send an email with all information regarding the photos.
Ride-a-test clinic- June 6th. This clinic is a one-day event and almost full so if you are interested, please contact Nina at (530) 515-8986 to sign up. Our Judge/Clinician will be Kathy Pavlich (Large R). You can ride a full test, or you can specify which movements you would like help with. Each ride will be 45 minutes. The ride schedule will be sent out early in the week prior.

Auditing is free for members and $10 for non-members
Volker Brommann clinic- Melinda VanSweden is reaching out to Volker for future clinic dates.
Randy and Evelynn Brooks- We are proposing a young horse and rider safety program in August. More details to come.
Kim Johan-Nass rode with Volker Brommann in the Amateur Clinic held May 8-9. She reported that the lessons were wonderful specific sessions and east to understand.
Cindy has the PO Box key. Checks and entries for clinics, shows, etc. will be sent to our PO Box, located in Palo Cedro.

Treasurer report: Cindy Madden is now treasurer. Jill O’toole is now going to meet with Cindy tomorrow to get the PO Box key. The post office charges $90 a year for the PO Box.

Tack Sway made $264.00 for the club.
Ride-A-Test has been canceled for May due to no judge available. However, it has been rescheduled for June 6th. The Judge will be Kathy Pavlich she is a Large R and S candidate. These are 1-day rides, and the space is limited. Please contact Nina ASAP is you’re interested. Ashlyn and Kim both want a spot.
The Cavaletti Clinic is full. Alex can be the photographer for the clinic. Joanna orders a port-a-potty, and it will be dropped off on Thursday before the clinic and picked up Monday after the clinic. Kathy volunteered to pay for a hand washing station.
Lunch will not be provided however coffee and water will be available.
Educational presentation potluck will be Saturday night, Kathy will host.
Auditors are welcome for the presentation that Erika Jansson will be giving.

Ashlyn Grant attended the Jr. Amateur clinic with clinician Kathy Pavlich at Pacific Equestrian Center. Ashlyn reported that she was an amazing clinician and super patient with each rider. There were 10 riders and horses ranging from beginners to Grand Prix.
Amateur Clinic - May 7-9, 2021
Kim Johan-Nass will be attending, the clinician is Volker Brommann. Spectators are welcome.
Discussed the possibility of having a future Volker Brommann or Andre Ganc clinic.

Treasurer report: A check for $150 was sent for the Amateur Clinic, we will need a receipt for stabling from Kim after she attends.
Area Chair: 18 members filled out the survey that was sent to each member, Vicki Schweitzer won the $50 gift card to Dressage Extensions for filling out the survey. We received good feedback from those who responded. It was suggested we have Educational seminars; have a guest speaker before each meeting and other good ideas. If you didn’t fill out the survey, please reach out to Nina with any suggestions you might have.
The Tack Swap is on Saturday, March 20th at Ark Design in Palo Cedro across the street from Dutch Bros. We have tables but if you have one, please bring it. The Tack Swap is from 10:00 to 3:00, sellers can set up at 9:30. Seller space is free to members and $10.00 to non-members.
Show Committee - the Ride-A-Test will be April 17th; the rain date is April 24th at Amber Shults facility.
Old Business: The Erika Jansson Cavaletti Clinic is May 8th - 9th at Amber Shults facility. Lauren applied for a grant through CDS for this clinic and we were approved. The price for the 2-day clinic is $110.00 per person ($55/ride), this is a great opportunity to ride with a sought-after clinician. You can be any discipline to ride in this clinic so if you know any western friends, let them know. This clinic has limited riding space and is filling up fast. Auditors are welcome at $10/day! This is going to be a great event to ride OR audit. If you’re interested in either, please contact Cindy Madden at 515-1456.
New Business: Kathy Praegitzer has offered her guest house for meetings. Our next meeting will be there on April 20th at 7:00 pm. We will be rotating the locations of the meetings by popular demand to include different restaurants, backyards, etc. Please visit our website at shastachapterdressage.org for the most up-to-date information! Area Chair Report - Many clinicians will not commit to clinics just yet due to Covid and vaccinations. A questionnaire will be coming soon via email to get an idea of what kind of events and clinics members want to participate in. Anyone who participates in the survey will be put in a drawing to win a $50 gift card to Dressage Extensions. Make sure to fill it out for your chance to win!
March 20th- The club will be having a tack swap; the location will be announced soon and will be either in Palo Cedro or Anderson. 10% of profits will go to club. Anyone is welcome to participate, club member or not. If you're not available that day, we will have members manning a table for items that we can sell for you. We will have easy ups, tables, and be acceptably distanced.
April - By popular demand, we will be putting on a Ride-a-test event. Information to follow.
May - 8th-9th Erikka Janson will be holding a cavaletti clinic in Palo Cedro. There will be 5 groups of 4 riders. If you're interested contact Nina or Cindy to claim your spot. Find out more information on our website, shastachapterdressage.org, under Clinics.
Also-in May will possibly have a lunging clinic, information to follow.
Show Committee - No shows this year.
Ride-A-Test was discussed, Amber and Kim both offered their arenas for the event.
Old Business - The Shasta Chapter website is up and running.
New Business - The dressage court, tables and misc. items are now in Amber’s shop. Lauren will take pictures and inventory what we have. There are many items which are damaged. These items will need to be taken to the dump for disposal.
Lauren and Cindy attended the Annual Meeting virtually
Cindy had entered our website in the state contest, and we WON!!! Our club will receive $500 for WINNING!!! Thank you, Cindy, for entering us in the contest and Thank you Lauren for making our website rock!
It was reported that this was a slow 2020 show year in the state. Erikka Janson was mentioned by many chapters as an excellent clinician, and everyone wanted her back, so her dates were filling up fast.
The California Dressage Society Members is on Facebook, current members can request to join their page and then you will have access to meetings, clinicians and riders. Check it out!!

The USEF rulebook is on our website under links. New rules are highlighted in red and will remain red until the end of the year. Please check it out so you are updated on any rule changes for this coming show season.
At the end of each meeting, we will spin a wheel for prizes. Each participant at the meeting will have their name put on the wheel and Lauren will spin. Tonight, it was a $25 gift card from Dressage Extensions. Congratulations Cindy for being our first winner.

New Business: If you are interested in next years Amateur Clinic let Cindy know in writing. A drawing will take place in December. Cindy will retrieve the club perpetual trophy. Zoom should be set up for members for our next meeting! Think of goals and our mission as a club, which could include a schooling show. Recognitions: Kaitlyn Bonis of Chico won the regional championship for 2nd and 3rd level dressage on her horse Sunny, at the Rancho Murieta Pacific Slope Championship. She went on to win 3 top ten placements in both 2nd and 3rdlevel dressage at Sport Horse Nationals in Florida, and became Reserve Champion in 2nd level in the adult amateur category.

The meeting was called to order by President Cindy Madden at 6:58. Treasurer: Cindy reported for Jill reported a balance. Go Daddy has been renewed.
Area Chairman: The Horse Expo is at Rancho Murieta May 7-10. The Adult Amateur Clinic is May 29-30.Our rider is Ashlyn Grant. The alternate is Barbara Fogarty. Golden State Dressage has shows in March. Pacific Equestrian Center has a show series. See Dressage Letters. Camelot will have 2 schooling shows; May 2 and August 30. Cottonwood Equestrian is having several obstacle challenge days. They also have a Tack Swap April 4th. Rima is getting a table and volunteered to share her space.
Show Committee: Vicki and Amber researched the Corning Equestrian Center. It has lots of amenities;controlled temperature, stalls, showers, hotels, a golf course, RV hookups, etc. The cost is $1200/day. We would have to partner with another club and have an enthusiastic multi-year commitment for a show of this type to succeed. More issues are show date changes with CDS and dates available. There was much discussion and Vicki and Amber will explore options. This is for 2021 or later.

New Business: Lisa gave a brief summary of her sessions at the USDF Convention in Savannah. Hillary Clayton emphasized the importance of bridle fit. Drug testing is going to be more stringent; so watch those supplements. Awards are in and will be given out at the next meeting, with cake. Shasta Chapter CDS Minutes
January 21, 2020
The meeting was called to order by President Cindy Madden at 7:04. Those in attendance: Cindy Madden, Shirley McCarthy, Megan and John Crowly, Marilyn and Jim Girt, Jill O'Toole, Vicki Schwartz, Joanna Ramsayer, Jenny Adams, Lauren Dinning, Rima Aimogida, Alexandria Lindsey, Barb and Patrick Fogarty, and Carol Wilson.
Minutes: Minutes from November were read and approved. There was no meeting in December because of the Christmas party. Thank you Kathy and Dennis.
Treasurer: Jill reported a balance.
Area Chairman: The Horse Expo is at Rancho Murieta May 7-10. The Adult Amateur Clinic is May 29-30. Our rider is Ashlyn Grant. The alternate is Barbara Fogarty.
Show Committee: Our show dates are held until 2021. If we want a show, a new venue must be found. A committee is needed to research options and prices. Vicki volunteered to check with Corning Equestrian Center. There was general discussion about future shows, schooling shows and making shows fun. Barb reported on the USDF program that gives points for schooling shows. Camelot does not have a show posted, but last year they needed more volunteers.
Clinics: Tina Steward will be here Feb 10. Contact Lisa at 549-4983. Erika Jansson is still available for a Cavaletti clinic and Amber has offered her arena. It would be open to all disciplines. Riders must commit with a deposit. Check her website at EJDRESSAGE.COM
Old Business: Barb and Cindy enjoyed the Annual Meeting, but felt that the symposium was geared to the judges and there was no lunch. Our club basket sold for $300. Thank you contributors. Barb and Cindy are still looking into having our meetings available by Skype or something. We would need a newer club computer.
New Business: Cindy opened discussion about fundraising and new club activities. Bring your ideas to the next meeting. Loren volunteered to review our club Web site to try and update it.
